skribbl.io history and the 2022 update
Two dates are solid. Everything between them is not a changelog I can quote, because the site only publishes one news post.

Research notes
The dated Wayback capture is reachable. A capture proves a page existed at that time, not its release day or that no earlier capture exists. CrazyGames prints both March and February 2017. Official News shows 9 November 2022.
What the 2022 post says
The post describes a rebuilt interface, mobile support, an undo button, configurable hotkeys, more colors, host kick and ban, votekick, mute, report, a 20-player custom room, 1 to 5 words per turn, hints that can be turned off, three word modes, and new words and avatars. It also says Russian and Japanese were added.
I do not have an official list of changes after that post. The news panel had not grown a newer item when I read it on 13 October 2026. “Hasn’t been updated in years” describes that panel. It does not mean the servers were off that day.
Questions
Who is Mel?
The news post is signed Mel. CrazyGames names the developer as ticedev. These credits do not establish one biography.
What version is current?
An official current-build number was not confirmed. Fandom's community infobox says 2022.11.9, matching the date of the official News post.
